When Sorrows Like Sea Billows Roll

On Friday, January 24th, our son Nathan called to say his home was burning down and he asked us to come quickly. While this is a phone call every parent hopes they never receive, we are incredibly grateful to report that he and his three children are safe!

Rod, along with our son John, jumped in the car to arrive on the scene just 30 minutes after receiving the call. What they saw made their hearts drop. The house was completely engulphed in flames, smoke poured out from the windows, and the roof had begun to collapse.

Our family is known for being resilient, and with God’s guidance, we will work together to help our son recover from this tragedy.

If you feel led to support Nate and his children, please consider the following:

  • Print this flyer, post at your gym, church, or anywhere you feel appropriate

  • Visit his GoFundMe page to provide financial support

  • Comfort the family via writing letters:

    Nate Breyer Family

    C/O Lin Breyer

We have already been so blessed by the kindness and compassion from friends both near and far who have reached out expressing sympathy and concern. Though for the moment our hearts are breaking, we know in time we, too, will be able to say, “It is Well with My Soul.”
